SOS is in New York City!

I wrote a list of 40 things to do before or when I am 40 years old. Going to New York City was one of them. I am here, in New York City, it's 12:25 a.m. and everyone is in bed sleep except for me. The city lights in Times Square will fool you! If I look outside, it looks like it's still daylight from some angles. Today was an incredible day. I had a fantastic time and I will blog about it tomorrow. I miss my family and friends but I am still excited about getting away from everyday life and adventuring into unknown territory. Tomorrw Lynette will be on Good Morning Texas and maybe just maybe, I will make it to Good Morning America. Time will tell.

Hi Sisters,
I haven't posted on the boards in a very long time, but I've never stopped shopping SOS style! I did take a break for a few weeks here recently from shopping and yesterday was my first "real" trip back to the stores. At 2 different stores I saw a sad site- people putting things back at the checkout because they did not have enough money. One lady with a small child put back hamburger meat, hot pockets and cereal. That one really hit me hard. I have 20 lbs of hamburger in my freezer from when Tom Thumb had it for 99 cents a pound a few weeks back. Cereal is obviously not an issue and anyone who has followed the buddy for any length of time has had hot pocket burnout because we get them for 50 cents a box so often. This lady was ahead of me and left before I could even look through my Q's to try and help her. I'm sure she was embarrassed and if I were her feeling pretty angry I had to take food from my childs mouth because things have gotten so ridiculously expensive. But I'm not her and it's all because I saw a brief commercial for Good Morning Texas a year and a half ago and then had someone else remind me to check out this site. I came to a workshop and I have not worried since about not having enough money to buy my groceries. Thanks to Cheryl and Lynette my family was able to take our very first vacation last summer because I had saved so much money at the store we could afford one. This fall my 5 year old will get to go to a small private school because we can afford it. We can because of SOS! I'm sure when Lynettes husband told her she only had $20 to feed their family for a week she did not see it as a blessing, but ladies look at how many you have now fed on that $20! it's just like loaves and fishes. I'm so glad you ladies are getting so much media coverage. Every time you are on the TV, radio or in the paper you are helping someone else just like me and hopefully that lady in Kroger who put those things back. Thank's y'all, you are both blessed and a blessing to more people than you know!

Father's Day Contest winner

Lynette was twelve years old in this photo. I knew she was special and as her older sister, I always stayed in the background, watching and waiting to see who she would become. She was a giver at a young age, she watched over my children while I worked during the summers even though she could have been playing games in the dirt( lol) that's all we had sometimes. She always watched them for FREE! (is that when the Freebie's really began?)

I am so proud of her. She has touched so many lives, including my own. God made us sisters, love made us friends!

What's love got to do with it?

When we started teaching our workshops people told us that there was no way this would work because there was no way they could take the time to cut, sort and use coupons. Quite frankly, I never thought I would be doing it either. My sister LOVES using coupons, I love to shop.

Now I have to ask myself whats love got to do with this. Whether you like it or not you gotta LOVE saving the money. In this economy we are becoming forced to find ways to help stretch our dollars and coupons are the best place to start.

I love it!

Yesterday I went to Tom Thumb I purchased 10 cases of bottled Ozara water reg 599 on sale for 3.99 and one Powerade drink. My total was $40.98 cents I rcv;d 2 movie tickets for FREE a $24.00 value and since my FREE popcorn catalina didn't print the manager gave me TWO more movie tickets which totaled $48.00 in FREE movies so I came out ahead $7.02.

It’s Original, The Giving Store

It's Official,

The Sisters of Savings now has a place to store their overages and give back to the community.

After months of searching and praying the keys were handed to Cheryl on Thursday, November 8^th and what a moment it was. As you are aware our dream is to give back and to help others. It's so obvious when you look at our message board how everyone has embraced the dream but it was impossible to do this out of our homes. Not only do we have a store but next week we will have an additional location to put our groceries and canned goods.

Needless to say I am exhausted and I need help. Please let me know if you have some free time to put the store together.

Lynettes $1,000.00 can of corn

The Secret is Giving
I first discovered the secrets of giving when I was a little child. As a pastor’s kid, the doors of our church and home revolved like a grocery store while I watched my parents consistently give away food, clothing and provide financial assistance to the community.

Simply stated, giving is a learned behavior. Please allow me to share a lesson that I learned about giving with you. It happened in June, 2001 while I was visiting my sister, Lynette, who is a wife and mother of three children. I was extremely hungry as I opened my sister’s pantry but to my surprise I saw only ONE can of corn. Nothing else. Only one can of corn. I went back into the room and I tried to keep a straight face as we resumed our conversation. I watched Lynette smile as though nothing was wrong.

I drove home that day and I struggled with what to do. I’m hoping you fall into this category. What do you do? As I shared my findings with my husband he said “ I bet if I called your sister she would give that can of corn to me” so he picked up the telephone and asked Lynette for some food. It was a Saturday night, the next day we walked into church and I remember that Sunday morning so clearly. Lynette walked into church with her family at her side and she was smiling. She discretely handed my husband the can of corn and as I watched her kind deed, I could taste the salt of my tears as they locked under my cheek. My husband and I had agreed that if Lynette gave us that can of corn that we would give her $500.00 and we did! As the news about Lynette’s unselfish act began to spread around church, other people began to give her more money. This day would eventually go down in history as the most expensive can of corn that had ever been GIVEN away. Before the benediction, Lynette and her family received over $1,000.00 for a simple act of giving and as you might imagine, there wasn’t a dry eye in the building!

As host of the Nothing but Good News radio show, I decided to interview the most important living legend in my life, my mother, Minnie Ewing. During the show, I received a call in from Bob Hopkins, the founder and publisher of Philanthropy World Magazine . As he began to ask my mother questions we had a startling discovery. Bob asked my mother to tell him a story about giving.

My mother shared the story about a complete stranger coming to her house and asking for food. Since she and her brother were the only ones at home, they remembered what my grandmother had taught them. She taught them to give, even if it was your last, and that’s what they did. They gave that stranger, a chair and one can of CORN! While mother was sharing this story my sister and I sat in the studio and we were astonished and amazed. We cried because we realized how one woman had created a legacy of giving-three generations and it all started with a can of corn. That simple.

This story will help you discover what I did. When you give, however big or small, it always comes back. The photo to the left is the original can of corn that was given to us June, 2001. There was no way we could eat that particular can of corn. We decided to keep it as a reminder for us to always give something on a daily basis. Just like Lynette created a memory that we will never forget, I challenge you to do the same. There were many kernels in that can of corn, all very small but together they made a huge impact. There are many ways that you can give. Give your own corn, beans or whatever and watch the harvest! Every year gives us 365 days to become a giver. So each day that we live, we have the opportunity to give something ( a smile, hug, helping hand) My prayer for you is that you have the hands to get and the heart to give.

Sometimes people come into your life for a season and others for a reason. Her name is Shelley on the SOS message board and we believe she came into the Sisters of Savings life for both. She is a wonderful woman and mother. She is motivator and a life changer. If you have the pleasure of meeting her your life will not be the same. I could say alot about her but I will let the other family members speak for me.

Here is the alert Shelley sent out Okay, Most of you know that I am an OLD SOS member! Faithful and true...... Some of you know that I have rental property and have had a time with one in particular renter. Heres where angels are needed:

I inspected the home earlier this month and found it in complete disarray. What bothered me more was the empty fridge, freezer and cabinets. This renter is a single parent with 3 growing children.

They are in need of everything! These children need to eat.....
If you can spare any of your stockpile...please PM me and I can give you the address. Thanks in advance because I live the SOS way and I know there are angels among us who will step up!

After Shelley;s post this is what happened,

Kasie took a 24 pack of Toliet paper,Tide, Clorox bleach, bounce, foil, foil wrappers, ziploc bags, mustard, ketchup, weisheisierrjekjfr LOL i dont know how to spell it, a BIG BIG box of goldfish crackers, cereals, pastas, spaghetti and Ragu, puddings, fruit snacks, razor, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, bandaids, pasta in a box, man I cant remember it all i know there was more food. I couldn't leave like eggs and milk like i wished to because of the heat and she was working soooo.... there is a lot im not mentioning but those are what i remember. I made sure that she had OH pancake mixes and syrup, anyways I remebered there was things she could make meals out of or liek I sent PB and then had to make sure there was bread and Jelly. THings like that. I know I set her for a good while but ever bit helps I wish I could of gotten her a gift card or something but I don't even have a dime right now!!! But, Im sure she could use it all!!

Sisters, cabinets on 1/2 of her kitchen had nothing in them. BY the time all of the food was unloaded those cabinets were full!!!! And her canned food pantry was full stacked 2' high!!!!!

And, her tears, when Kasie gave her a special bag all for her own!!!

Hubby is saying he can't even see 10 bags of food gone from my house!!!!! I didn't make a real dent in my stockpile but it made someones month!!!!!

DALLAS - Christmas will not be so bleak, after all, thanks to strangers touched by a family's misfortune.

Wednesday, News 8 reported on a family whose Christmas presents had been stolen from underneath their tree. All that the thieves left were four boxes of popcorn. Glenda Bruce's children -- two of whom are mentally and physically challenged -- faced a holiday without gifts.

But Bruce's story resonated with North Texans, and just as in 'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,' the thieves could not take away the spirit of the season.

"For someone to take somebody's Christmas like that... that's wrong," said Cheryl Jackson. "And there's somebody who can help, and I want to be that somebody."

Jackson said she has a heart for giving. Next month, she will launch her radio show called "The Giving Movement."

"I know so many people, and everybody has ten or so people in their circle," Jackson said. "Imagine if everybody gave just $50! You could change a life!"

And that's just what happened. Family and friends of Jackson started calling and donating. Dallas police received a bicycle and cash from strangers.

The Bruce family's luck changed.

"This will be something they'll tell their kids and their kids' kids. Then they'll teach them," Jackson said. "They'll move it forward and do it for somebody else."

At last check, more than $1,200 had been raised, and the family got to go on a new Christmas shopping spree.

My friend named Tri purchased 126 bottles of water for $5.16

Who says you can't get bottled water for almost FREE. My friend Tri who is a single parent, corporate guru and one that doesn't have time to shop or save money was at my house. I opened up a bottle of water and she liked them so she asked where did I get the water.

I told her Target and that we only paid .03 cents per bottle. She then became a believer in coupons and where or where can I get this coupon she asked. I gave Tri the information and when she saw me again she proudly talked about her shopping adventure where she bought 30 bottles of water for .90 cents.

It seems as though every day Tri was at the store, stockpiling the waters. She was so proud of herself and I was too. She donated 50 bottles of water to the youth group at our church on Saturday and all the kids consumed it like it was soda.

Now that the water is no longer on sale, the thrill is gone. What will Tri do? What will I do? The first thing I will do is hide my remaining bottles before my kids get to them. Gotta go. See you in the stores.

My grocery savings experience - You must not know bout me

Do you think a mother of two that runs a non-profit, is the PR for her church, a wife whose husband owns his own business and who has her own radio show has time to wash dishes?

Of course not. So thankfully my sister, Lynette was kind enough to give me a heads up on the sale of my favorite invention which is PAPER PLATES. She knows I am so busythat I live and die by the good old paper products.

I dread spending 2.19 for 50 plates that will literally go into the trash. So what did I do? I went to the store and purchased 2 packages of Hefty plates for .37 cents. The cashier Jenny was a newby and she was so proud of her new position. She was every bit of 4 feet 11 and she looked at me this 5'7 savings queen and with all of her new found wisdom she proudly said : YOU CAN ONLY USE ONE COUPON PER ORDER".

Keep in mind, it was 104 degrees outside and the heat was on. I was thinking to myself Lord have mercy.... she must not know bout me. So I put my 2 packages of plates on the counter and separated my 4 orders because I knew I wasn't coming back out to the store to do this transaction again. She looked at me and said " I can't do this" I can't use more than one coupon per ORDER. I asked, why no?t... and in my mind I was thinking this is only a test.... it will be over soon and she said "In my training class they told us we can't accept more than one coupon because there are some people whose grocery bill is like $ 300 but after coupons it is $80" and I looked, smiled and responded with these words " And what is the problem with that?"

As you know, I thought she was talking about me but when she said they only spend $80 I was thinking well, that's not the Sisters of Savings because our numbers are much better than that. So I kindly asked for a manager and I told the cashier go ahead and continue to ring me up until she gets over here. Needless to say, the new cashier didn't know what she was talking about. After the manager explained the policy to her she looked so confused and I felt so sorry for her.

So the morale of the story is to keep your cool even if the temparture is 104 degrees. Smile at the cashier (even though they don't know their policies and walk away with money that you don't have to spend because you are a smart educated Sister of Savings)

It's been a long week. I have been wrestling with the internet company to get our name back. Someone had hijacked the Sisters of savings website and my first thoughts was to let it go. I immediately bought sistersofsavings. org and said we will just forward the site there however something inside of me wouldn't let this go.

SOMEONE HAD TOOK MY NAME. So what's in a name? I never really thought about it until now, but nine days later or 12,960 minutes later I knew what my name meant and there were people all around me and my Sister that reminded us of who we are.

We are the Sisters of Savings. We don't give up or mess up but we stand up for what is true and our integrity means alot. Let me thank all of the family that rallied behind us to support our fight.

As I sat in bed last night I kept wondering why would anyone want our name but when I woke up this morning the answer was really clear. Our name symbolizes savings. But not just saving money, but saving families from hunger, saving people from being lonely (there are some awesome friendship that have developed on our board and most of all saving)

I am completely exhausted, the fight has worn me out but WE WON and tomorrow I promise I will begin to blog daily about what is happening in our world and I can't wait to see what will happening next.

Okay family. I know many of you read the FREE poo post earlier today just as I did and were disappointed that you missed the sale so I decided nothing ventured, nothing gained. So off I went.. me and my binder to the 1st store and I went up and down the aisle until I saw her. Tthere she was all pretty as could be. What was it? I'm glad you asked?
It was the shampoo and conditioner STILL ON SALE Buy one Get one Free . OH my goodness... my heart began to beat so fast I thought I was the little drummer boy. I didn't know if I should run, laugh, or just plain Scream," I LOVE THE SISTERS OF SAVINGS" from the depth of my belly as loud as I could.
Then a manager walked over and said " Is there something I can help you with?" I looked at him with my BIG BRIGHT brown eyes and said... "Sir, you already have." I pulled out all 18 of the beautiful pink coupons that said Buy one get one free and I slowly place 36 VIVE shampoo and conditioners in my basket.
I was singing to myself that old Michael Jackson spiritual " It doesn't matter if you are black or white" that goes for the color of your skin or the color of the coupon. I kept thinking ANYONE can do this!!!then I raced over to those sponges and got those for free and of course I left with the scotch brite starter kit.

Last night I told you how board I was so I jumped up and rushed out the house to see if I could spend less than 5.00 and what that would get me. My first stop was Tom Thumb... I walked in all bubbly and happy just knowing that I was about to do some damage in that store. My sons had already eaten most of the pizzas from last week so I went to get the Hot Pockets for them. I REFUSE to by fast food again. By golly if I am going to save money on groceries then we are gonna eat them. So I walked in with my pretty little baby in the front seat ( the sos binder) and I coo'd at her--- I named her name Shacora LOL and it seemed like she ccoo'd back at me. I was glowing like a proud new mother because I had new coupons to use. There was an elderly man in the soap ailse and when I looked and saw I had 5 coupons for the free dial soap I had he said to me " You are so organized-you have your stuff together" Now family you know What I had to do- I picked up the soap that he was looking at too and I said " this one is on me" he looked and said wow are you serious- I said of course and then I proudly said "Sistersofsavings.com" he said okay. So up and down the aisles I continued to walked - dog food, spam,hotpockets,soap etc and I really giggled everytime I placed something int the basket. Just like I am giggling now. Well read for yourself my receipt 7 Spam singles 11 hot pockets calzones 30 cans of cat food ( I dont have a cat) 9 Alpo dog food 4 dial soaps One loaf of bread total receipt $66.90 total savings $ 66.89 AMOUNT DUE- .01 or one penny or uno penny lolrotf OH AND I GOT TWO MOVIE TICKETS!!! My cashier Eva kept saying wow,wow,wow, as the total began to drop and the woman behind me was like how did you do that. Of course I said "sistersofsavings.com" and she said what and I said it again sistersofsavings.com and so as I am searching for a penny I realized I DID NOT HAVE A PENNY so the sacker said "please let me pay for this for you. I said okay and thank you. Of course at Tom Thumb I had to do 3 small transactions to get the dial soap because the coupon was for .35 so I asked the cashier to do the 3 seperate ones and the lady behind me saw 1.05 disappear 3 times she couldn't believe it and Eva said " don't you wish we could all shop like her" I said you can. Then I loaded up the truck called Lorrie and headed to Kroger The dear old hubby gave me $100.00 to spend on groceries HEHEHEHE so what will I do with that? I think I will take him to the movies and feed him the hot pockets before we go and pop the popcorn from last week and put in a ziplock bag LOL and get some ice from the stand to put my FREE water in from last week any other thoughts. What can you buy for .89? Today at 7:44pm I had to go to Kroger because I had coupons that would expire. So I went in with my beautiful binder that I'm thinking about putting insurance on and I was ready for the challenge. Armed with my coupons in hand this is what I purchased 5 Pillsbury rolls 2 rolls grands biscuits 3 pillbury cookies ( by the way the coupon works on the chocolate chip cookies too) 11 packages of gum 3 Hungry man dinners Coupon savings 44.58 Total bill .89 Total percentage saved 98% The funny part was that as I began to pay the cashier Kelly said "this is unbelievable" could you do that again? I said I certainly hope so. "Everyone around me began to smile and I bounced out of the store with a HUGE grin. Then I noticed, I HAD ONE COUPON FOR THE GUM!!!!! IN my pocket. I was devastated. I said I must go back since I had more coupons and do this again because the coupon for the gum was valued at 1.00 which means that transaction would have been FREE! Also I received a catalina coupon for 5.00 off my next purchase which really makes that a FREE transaction. So I loaded my groceries in the car and walked back in the store..... To be continued...

So I walked back into Kroger because I was so disappointed in myself for leaving that 1.00 gum coupon in my pocket and having to pay for that order that I decided I would try this again. Here is what I bought. 3 pillsbury cookie rolls 3 grands biscuits 1 wrigley gums 4 crescent pillsbury rolls 2 packages of Kraft cheese 16 slices total coupon savings 21.65 bill total .61 percentage savings 97% Well, this time my cashier was not that friendly.... the girl that checked me out earlier was sacking for him and everytime he scanned a coupon he kept looking like what is going on... am I doing something wrong? He would stop and stare and then scan again. The girl said to him just scan the darn coupons she knows her stuff.... then at the end my balance was negative .39 so I though a pacakage of gum but I had a coupon that said buy one get one free so I put another package up there. What I failed to look at was the gum was .99 cents. I wanted so badly to tell him to void the gum but he was looking like a man from outter space and the line was getting long so I pulled out the ATM card and paid .61 LOLROTF So now I have 600 sticks of gum and all I can say is I know what I will be giving out at the next SOS class. LOLROTF. After I put the groceries in the car it was 9:00 p.m. so... I immediately drove to Wendys and paid 10.37 for a 2 BURGERS This is the week that I will start cooking LOL. I must, I must, I must increase my pie crust recipes..... any ideas please post them under recipes lol I love the SOS FAMILY Wait until you read about my next transaction

I knew that Albertson was having a huge sale. I had heard about it from... well the shopping buddy and everyone on the board so I got up to see how well I could do. I LOVE ALBERTSONS. Why? You ask because where else can you purchase 10 pillsbury toaster strudels 8 chex mix packages 4 boxes of pop secret popcorn 7 boxes of Capri Sun 2 quarts of BIG STRAWBERRIES I had 2 separate receipts The first was a savings of $38.55 in coupons The FINAL COST was .38 and the funny part was that I didn't have any cash so out came the ATM but I got 10.00 back i The next receipt was 28.10 in savings the final cost was 2.85 so I guess I need to go back to another SOS class which is April 7th lol The reason I said what a smile can get you is that there was a limit on the Capri-Sun (so I was told) but my cashier was like let me take care of you so we don't have to keep ringing this up over and over again so within 2 minutes I was out of there and singing all the way home. I can't wait to read how well you are doing. Also they tried to substitute the imperial sugar with albertson sugar but I said no I will just get a rain check so I can use my coupons so remember to ALWAYS get a raincheck if they are out of a product When I went to get the gogurts they were out too and Stanley the Stocker said : I'm not sure what happened but all of a sudden people just started running in buying these. I said when did this begin he said FRIDAY I just laughed like crazy and of course got a raincheck for that too.

It's 1:23 A.M. hubby is out of town so I thought I should post this so I won't forget. Oh what a night. It all started when Erica picked me up... I was looking all cute in my denim and we headed straight to Albertsons when I thought to myself, should I try this again, my heart began to beat really fast then I askd myself, what would Lynette do? Immediately Erica and I walked into Albertsons after gathering 60 Kelloggs Special K waters coupons for 1.00 off each and we picked up 60 bottles with a retail value of 1.99 each which would have totaled $119.49 but after using that beautiful raincheck that was $10 for $10 we paid ZERO dollars.
You can only imagine the look on a customers face when me and Erica put those waters in the cart, she kept staring and looking back at us like why are ya'll buying so many waters it was sooo funny. I would have given her a coupon but since she didn't have the raincheck she would have had to pay .999 fo the water and that wouldn't have been right. You should also have seen the look on Gilberts face, he had to call a manager over to make sure he did everything okay. Of course I assured him that he was the best cashier in the world as he rang up those 60 Free waters and off we went. I FELT LIKE WE WERE OPRAH AND GAYLE on a road trip lol. Lynette called me and told me about a super deal at target so off me and erica went with our coupons and our SMILE of course. We went to the Dove aisle where there is a limited sale on select Dove products if you by any 2 they will give you a $5.00 gift card immediately. I thought this is too good to be true, but since my lovely sister had already been there the shelves clearly reflected this) I thought let me finish this off. This is what I purchased, 12 Dove deodorants@ 3.69 44.82, 12 Dove body washes@3.69 = 44.82 and 12 Dove Pro age facial cleaners @4.89 =58.68 The total should have been $159.39 BUT since I had coupons and for every TWO you purchases you received a $ 5.00 gift card of course I split up the transactions and after I paid my initial $5.68 to get the ball rolling I walked out the store with a $ 5.00 gift card and 36 total Dove products. Oh I forgot to mention I bought some hair bands that I really need with the five dollar gift card too. It was the most amazing thing I had experienced until I went to Kroger yes... I had the SOS fever so I called Lynette and told her I was in her city. I knew that would get her out of bed and so she met me and Erica at Kroger. It was so much fun (This is like a drug and coupons may cure PMS for a moment) lol Paige. At Kroger Lynette went first and this is the truth I promise. She saved 99% on her bill but the fun part was because we had sooo many gum coupons because it was buy one get one free that for at leat seven minutes we kept having a credit on her bill. We kept getting a credit until we ran out of coupons. The cashier told her he was in love with her... I had 13 packs of gum in my nightstand. LOLROTF tomorrow is my husbands birthday, guess what he is getting? So now its my turn this is what I bougth at Tom thumb 30 pillsbury/grand biscuits products, 3 boxes hamburger helper, 3 packages of oscar mayer ham 4 sticks of gum 2 chex mixes I PAID $3.10 and I have a $5.00 coupon on my next order Finally for Tom Thumb and I will make this quick because I am sleepy. I purchased 10 red barons pizza 1 joy lemon dishwashing liquid 1 pkg of ocello sponges 12 arrid deodorants This should have cost $71.23 but I paid $4.90 and I got 2 FREE MOVIE TICKETS as well as a rebate for $10.00 on the pizza that I bought. How you ask? I had the manufacturers coupon and $10.00 off any oder of $50.00 or more. IS THIS CRAZY OR WHAT? I hope this is as much fun to you as it is to me. It's 2:00 a.m. I am going to sleep now. Oh and I got a raincheck for the contour glucose machine that's 30.00 at CVS because with my 30.00 off coupon it will be FREE and of course I will mail in that $50.00 rebate and since I have 10 coupons... looks like every woman I love will be getting a check in the mail in the amount of $50.00 from me JUST in time for MOTHERS DAY! It has been a couple of months since I have posted to this blogger ( shame on me) but we have been on a worldwind. Our company has exploded and honestly sometimes I don't know if I am coming or going. Our phones are ringing we have appeared on Good Morning Texas, KRLD, Channel 4 News,Channel 8 News, DFW COmmunity spotlight and our picture is now on all the grocery carts in KROGER in Allen, Texas ( it's really cute too).

It is amazing to hear how we have changed peoples lives for the better. We are so thankful for where we are right now. We are working on products to help the consumer learn how to save more and we are so blessed to have so many people smile and thank us for helping them. December is my favorite month of the year I pray the safety of all our new friends and for success on the upcoming year. I am committing to blogging something everyday even if it is just hello and thank you.

This is the beginning of something big!!!

I received an email today from Rebecca who has attended only one SOS seminar. This is why we started these seminars. For people like Rebecca and you too. Everyone should be saving money like this. Here's what our sister Rebecca had to say....
"I did clean up at Tom Thumb today. My house smells great! My husband loves it to. I would love to shop tomorrow but I will be at work :(. Me and my husband both work full time jobs. We have a two year old and would love to add to our family. I am hoping what you two lovely women have turned me on to what will HELP with trying to cut down to part time eventually. What a blessing.

Hello Sisters,
At 10:30 last night I was in the store. I was at the register when a customers product came up the wrong price. She caught the error and told the cashier. She purchased some charcoal for 8.49 but the sale price was 5.99. When she showed the cashier her circular he subtracted the amount and rang it up at the sales price. I kindly said with a smile. That is supposed to be free. The customer looked at me and I said it again, when a product rings up incorrectly it is free.
Then the cashier and the bagger said "It's only free if the customer KNOWS THE STORE POLICY.
The customer said "I know" lol. I smiled and said give it to her for free, do I need to pull out my store policy and call corporate tomorrow" The cashier picked up te phone and said manager assistance please. The manager walked over and I told him what happened, he said " you are absolutely right and he voided off the item. That means she saved 8.49 last night.
The customer said thank you and this was just another chapter in the Sisters of Savings Book.

"Hello Ladies, Praise the Lord for all of His goodness. I am so thankful that God lead me to watch the news in order that I might meet you two. I enjoyed your seminar tonight. I can truly say that I was blessed in so many way that will continue to flow for years to come. I am looking forward to our next class. I am going to pass alone your website to all that I know. I went out after our class and picked up a binder, tabs, labels, and anything else that I felt would help me in my new quest. I am on fire and I know it is only because My Lord and Savior moved my spirit to you and Fox 4 News.

Tonight as I reflect on the seminar, I sit in unbelief. Lynette and I never had a clue that we would meet the most wonderful, warm people and how much fun the seminar would be. I had a blast watching the men at the seminar grasp what we were teaching and to hear a woman scream, "I need deodorant" and everyone took off running to find her some was the highlight of my night.
For those of you that walked away with any product, did you know that someone was shopping for you while you were working, playing or doing nothing at all? When we purchased those .50 cents box of fruit roll ups or .50for a tube of toothpaste or 1.00 cereal bars or .68 for a box of Honey Bunches of Oats!
What I loved about the night was the woman that won the grocery basket said she was sharing it with her girlfriend.... now that's what Sisters of Savings is really about.

Staples allows you to return up to 3 toner cartridges and receive $ 3.00 for each one. I returned three of them and received $ 9.00. I needed 3 reams of HP paper which cost $ 5.19 each. It’s funny that HP put a coupon in the local newspaper for $ 1.00 off. I had read Office Depot had an advertisement buy 2 reams of HP paper and get the third for free, since Staples matches their competitors ads I bought 3 reams of paper for $ 15.97. After the 9.00 off and the 3 - $1.00 off coupons and then Staples matching Office Depot, I walked out the door spending only $ 1.50 for three reams of paper. "Yippeee," I said as the cashier looked in amazement

What a deal
The trip to my neighborhood Target was supposed to be an easy one, but I ran into a small road block. I won’t mention the cashiers name, but let’s put it this way, Rose thought her last name was Target. She did not know the store policy and if I wouldn’t have had a print out from Target’s corporate office, I would have paid more money than necessary, but I knew better. Rose was rude and very upset that I was saving that much money on coca cola. It’s okay though, maybe one day she will join the club.

We found a great deal on coca cola products, you probably saw it on sale for 4/$11 but not if you knew the Sisters of Savings secrets. On the soda box there was a coupon that said buy 4 and get the fifth one free and Target had a coupon for one dollar off any coca-cola product. That made the 12 pack $ 1.75 each ( one 20 ounce coke at the convenient store cost $ 1.20).
What did that mean to us, instead of 4/$11.00 we got 10/$ $12.00. It pays to know how to use coupons. Remember we can show you how.
Now I have a total of 37 cases of soft drinks which should last me through the rest of the year :)
I will have people over for Labor Day, so I will give you a soda update soon.

Channel 8 shopping trip with Jeff Brady

What a fun day... We walked out with 4 baskets....

Channel 8 did a Family First segment on the Sisters of Savings…. My beginning balance was $ 97.06 but ended up at $ 33.04. My sister, Lynette’s receipt at target was originally $141.23 and ended at $ 48.00. We walked out with FOUR baskets of groceries for less than $ 100.00.
That day my list had Glade air freshners (8) Rolaids (5) Heinz (2) Mustard ( 6) Sodas (9-12 packs) Motts apple Juice (3) Ragu(2) dip ( 2) Crisco ( 8 bottles) Snickers (5) and much more.

The people at this target knew their stuff, the manager Glenn was extremely friendly and helpful. Jeff Brady from Channel 8 was there to experience our savings and we made a believer out of him. He even called us to thank us and said he and his wife may be coming to a Sisters of Savings seminar soon.

I am a sucker for all the smell good product and while I was shopping at my local Tom Thumb I saw a clearance section for Glade air freshners.... they normal cost was $ 6.99 each and the clearance price was $ 2.35, of course my coupon was for $3.00 off so everything was FREE!!
Yipppeeee!!! How fun is this. It should be a crime ( but it isn't).

CVS
Well, it is this simple and I never knew , Wendy at CVS is so funny. THe CVS had an ad in the paper for Ladys speed stick on sale for $1.49 from the original $ $3.29 price and I was estactic. Why because I had a $ 1.00 coupon ( I'm sure you have already done the math- but it gets better, I also had a coupon for $ 3.00 my next CVS purchase so I ended up with 14 Lady's speed sticks for $ 2.80!
I love it and guess what... I met a friend in the store and my sister gave him some coupons and he purchased 7 deodarants for the price of one. He asked us what else was free in the store lol...
It's fun sharing too.

The $isters of $avings appeared on GMT and what an exciting fun filled day it was! Gary Cogill and Amy Vanderoef did an incredible interview. The entire staff treated us like royalty. We shared our experiences from the past month and we think they were impressed. The highlight of my day was when the camera lady saw the Oil of Olay body wash and said " I love that product and I am currently out of it" guess who gave her some of it? Sisters of Savings is also about giving. It would be sad to have so many groceries and free things and not be able to extend our savings to people that we meet.When we left the studios my phone already had voice mails from people asking about registering for the seminar. We then decided to spend a little time together so we went to Target. We were greeted by some of the friendliest people who had watched Good Morning Texas and thus wanted to know what the savings for the day was. Of course we had to share the good news with them. Target had their 12 packs of Cokes on sale for $2.75 and we wouldn't be caught without a coupon which was for $1.00 off so that made a 12 pack of coke a total of $1.75. (You will pay that for two bottles of coke at your local convenient store) Needless to say, I purchased 15 packs of them so when the holiday's arrive, I won't need to purchase anymore. I gave my new friend Debbie that I met at the store two coupons so she could save money too. Hey if you see us in the store please say hello. With all this money that we are saving...
